The Church Travel Department has already booked our flights to South Africa. "God willing and the creek don't rise", we will be leaving the country Wednesday August 29th.
We will fly from Salt Lake to Chicago and then on to London England. There was going to be a 9 hour layover in London which would have added considerably to the continuous length of our trip. We therefore requested a full day's layover in London to get a good rest at a hotel before making the last long leg of the trip to Johannesburg.
We will arrive in Johannesburg at 7:00AM (their time) on Saturday, September 1st. This will give us Saturday and Sunday to get acclimated to the time change and catch up on our rest before we go into the office on the Monday.
I am sure that the Stringhams (the couple we are replacing) will be anxious to start "power packing" us with the information that we will need to do our job.
We will be staying in a hotel until the Stringhams leave on September the 11th, at which time we will be able to take over their flat. (South African lingo for "apartment".)
